Duck's Dam Diner occupies a familiar nook in Ocklawaha, rooted in the tradition of classic Florida diners. This small, somewhat patchworked building has expanded over the years, creating a cozy but slightly snug space that carries an old-time charm rather than slick modern style. It’s the kind of spot where locals come for a reliable, hearty meal rather than a flashy dining experience.

The diner specializes in substantial breakfast and lunch offerings, with large portions that stand out even for a diner known for big servings. Standouts include biscuits and gravy served with eggs, country-fried steak topped with sausage gravy, and a variety of breakfast scrambles, all reliably fresh and piping hot. The "Big Dam Biscuit" and "Mighty Duck" plate are good markers of how this place values comfort and volume, fitting for those seeking a filling start or midday fuel.

The atmosphere feels relaxed and unpretentious. While the space isn’t expansive and parking might be a slight hassle for some, there’s an outdoor picnic table area that offers a casual alternative when the weather allows. The service tends to be friendly and attentive, although newcomers might notice a bit of the easygoing small-town pace that can feel brusque at first but softens with time.

This diner works best for anyone who appreciates a no-frills, home-style breakfast or lunch with generous portions and familiar southern-inspired sides like collard greens and home fries. Mornings and early afternoons on weekends or weekdays are prime times to catch the classic diner vibe without feeling rushed. It attracts locals who want good food and a straightforward atmosphere over anything trendy.

This spot in Ocklawaha has been here for many years, but today was my first time there, and it was worth the trip. I ordered my usual go to when trying a new place, biscuits & gravy, with home fries, and sausage...it was one of the biggest portions I've ever seen. The food was great, the servers were friendly, and attentive, and it just had a relaxing atmosphere. I would highly recommend giving this place a shot if you get the opportunity

We had lunch at the Duck’s Dam Diner on a weekend in October, 2023. It’s a smaller and older building. It obviously started as a much smaller building. But it looks like additions over time enlarged the building. It’s tight, but has old time character. The food was decent at a fair price. Our waitress who I think was named Sue kind of came across as being a little put off or such at first, but then turned out to be a nice lady with us. They were pretty busy when we were there, so I understand how she might have felt rushed and under pressure. All in all, our meal turned out just fine. Not the best we have ever had, but good enough that we wouldn’t think twice about returning again. They have two rest rooms. One for men and as one might guess, one for women. I’m sure this probably helps limit wait times. The parking area is basically dirt or sand. So folks who may have steadiness issues, may want to be careful to steady themselves. After our meal, we even visited the park next door and hung out with a small Alligator. I guess our experience was what we expected to an extent. I enjoy country establishments that are not fancy. Duck’s Dam was definitely that. I’m sure we’ll be back in the future.

If you like old Florida atmosphere , you'll love the Dam Diner. Service is always great and the food very good. Last visit i had a ham and cheese omelet with the typical extras. Nothing fancy here, just a fun place.
